About Us
It started with one stool and a full moon.
MoonLight Rae began in 2014 in a converted tobacco barn, where founder Rae Delacroix stitched her first drum pouf by lantern light because the barn had no power yet. A neighbor bought it the next morning. Then his sister ordered two.
A decade later we are a team of eleven makers, still working mostly after sundown, still cutting every hide by hand. We do not keep a warehouse. Every piece is made for the person who ordered it, signed on the underside, and logged in a ledger we have kept since day one.
Honest materials
Full-grain leather from tanneries we visit in person. No bonded leather, ever.
Slow by design
Six to ten weeks per order, because hand stitching cannot be rushed.
Built to return
Lifetime re-conditioning. Send it back in 20 years and we will make it new.
The Craft
From hide to heirloom in four steps.

Select
You choose from more than 80 hides in our library, or we send swatches to your door.

Cut
Each panel is hand-cut around the natural markings so the grain tells its own story.

Stitch
Waxed linen thread, saddle-stitched with two needles. Stronger than any machine seam.

Finish
Edges burnished, hide conditioned, and the maker signs the base before it ships.
